SYSTEMS-BASED AGILITY TRAINING-A TRUE PARADIGM SHIFT

I must admit that I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to all of this online marketing and tech-savvy stuff, but I'm learning and getting better every day. Truth is that I've been a fitness and performance writer for almost 20 years and counting. Much of what I wrote originally was for other people and their brands because that was the only way I could get eyeballs on my work, and I was really happy to help. But over the past couple of years, I've moved away and really focused on building my own site to further my efforts to make a difference. In previous years, I wrote about everything under the sun at one point or another, and rather than start from scratch, I'm going to opt to either share or repurpose some of my evergreen content with additional information starting now.

Now, one of the things that I didn't quite understand for years, training my athletes, is why we were doing all of these random rehearsed cone drills. If you are reading this, it's safe to say you probably work with athletes, and I'm sure you can relate. The drills just didn't feel right or seem to have much similarity to actual sport settings. My point is that agility and quickness training, just like all other approaches, needs to have a strong framework or system that you can apply to any athletes and individuals, and I believe I've done that in the article below. The room for more precise exercise selection scenarios and movement sequencing can be made better, but it's a start and provides much-needed rhyme and reason to athletes, coaches, and trainers everywhere. Enjoy!
